Mr. David D. Sloan Jr.'s Obituary
David D. Sloan, Jr. (aka "Butch"), was born in Washington, D.C. in 1947, where he spent a vast majority of his childhood and young adulthood. He was known for sharing endearing stories of a simpler time, where he, his brothers and friends would make the most of their adventures throughout Northeast D.C..
David went on to serve our great country by enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he was honorably discharged to pursue a college education.
During David's time in college, he was able to utilize valuable lessons learned from his STEM education and general discipline from his time in the Air Force, to successfully graduate from Howard University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
In his personal life, David was blessed with having 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. David's professional life was marked by a long list of professional accolades in the private corporate manufacturing sector and in local government service.
Throughout David's life, he strongly believed in giving back to his community in a variety of ways that included service in the following organizations: Knights of Columbus, Cub Scouts of America, The American Legion, and Habitat for Humanity.
Outside of community service, David was an avid golfer, fisherman, photographer, short story author, grill master, world-traveler, friend, and family man.
