Mr. David "Rod" Stephens' Obituary
David Rodriquez Stephens was given the gift of life on Thursday, June 21, 1984. He was born to the late Sarah Stephens Edwards and David Griggs in Meridian, Mississippi.
Rod, as he was affectionately known, accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age. Later in life, he rededicated himself to the Lord and united with Reflections of Christ Church.
Rod was educated in the Meridian Public Schools District.
Rod met the love of his life, Chantay in 2005 and later married in 2017.
In 2008, Rod's entrepreneurship began when he became the proud owner and operator of Reliable Rental and Reliable Carpentry Services.
Rod was a wonderful man who always had a smile on his face.
He was a selfless and kind person, always thinking of others before himself, the true definition of a stand up guy. He was a loving and caring family man, not only to his immediate family, but also to others he meet and referred to them as family. When Rod was present he filled the room with his infectious smile and big personality. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, hunting, basketball and traveling.
Rod's journey in life ended on the evening of Friday, July 14, 2023. His memory will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Chantay Stephens; his children: Amiriya Stephens, DeMarcus Stephens, Aubriannah Stephens, and Zarielle Stephens; granddaughter: Havien Raine Yarbrough; maternal grandfather: John Burrage; two brothers: Sheldrick Stephens and Jermaine Stephens; and two sisters: Twila Stephens and Chastity Stephens Clark. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will forever miss and love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandmother, Mary Ann King Burrage; maternal grandfather, Roosevelt Stephens; and paternal grandparents, Evalena Griggs and David Davis, Jr.
Rod will forever be missed by the lives he touched. His time may have been brief, but his impact will last for generations.
May he rest in eternal peace.
