Mrs. Diane Sims' Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Diane Sims. God called her home on December 13, 2022 after a brave unexpected battle with cancer. She was born to the late Lawrence H. Sims and Alma Lee Donald on August 7, 1952 in Meridian, Mississippi. Diane g;aduated from Meridian High School in 1970 where she was an important part of the civil rights movement of integrated schools. She continued her education at Meridian Community College. In 1971, Diane moved to Los Angeles, California where she lived and worked for over 50 years. She was dedicated to working and taking care of her two children and deeply loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Diane was a member of Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, CA under the Rev. Solomon L. Drake where she attended church and Sunday school. She was known for her love and caring nature and always made a point of sending holiday and birthday cards to her · friends and family. She was a devoted mother of two children, Terence Williams of Atlanta, GA and Tivona Denmark of Inglewood, CA and was a beloved grandmother to Parker, Joseph, and the late Kamaria. She is also survived by her sisters Jacqueline Sims, Darnice Hariston (Gabriel), and Tyisha Monae Sims, as well as her brothers Lawrence Sims of Los Angeles, CA, Milton Sims, and.Angelo Sims (Lisa). Diane had a large and loving extended family, including numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Alma Lee Sims, as well as her sister Lorraine Boyd (Sims) and two brothers Jerry Sims, Eric Sims and a nephew Alex Sims. Diane will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and warmth she brought to those around her.
