Rev. Dock Everett, Jr.'s Obituary
Rev. Dock Everett, Jr., was born October 12, 1937 to Dock Everett, Sr. and Mary Terry in Gulfport, MS. He was one of 3 children born to this union, all preceded him in death. Dock was a graduate of Nichols High School in Biloxi, MS and served thirteen years in the U.S. Army prior to being called to the ministry. His seven years of study at Candler School of Theology, Atlanta, GA, strengthened his knowledge in ministry. On February 16, 197 4, Dock married Mary Cole and to this union was born one son, Kevin E. Everett (Lisa), Columbus, MS. Other family members to cherish his memory, one daughter, Kathy Williams, Cleveland, OH; one stepson, Kenneth W. Cole, Meridian, MS. His beloved grandchildren, Kendra Cole, Lafayette, LA; Emerald Everett and Kaaliyah Everett, Gulfport, MS; Kenneth Cole, Jr. Waco, TX; Kevin Everett, Jr., Richton, MS; Noah Everett, Columbus, MS; step-grandchildren are Kadija · Pierce, Reginald Johnson, Jr.; Abigail Hubbard, all of Columbus, MS. Brother-in-laws, Leroy Cole, Akron, OH; Rev. Eddie Cole (Shirley), Curtis Cole (Fredna), William Cole, Jr. (Anise) and Charles Cole, all of Meridian, MS. Rev. Everett's ministry began in the C.M.E. Church on the MS Gulf Coast and in Bruce, MS. In 1975, he was ordained into the United Methodist Church where he served as pastor for over 40 years in Meridian, Shubuta, DeKalb and Forest, MS. During his early years 1n Meridian Dock was a motivator and servant of the people. He inspired residents to fight for their equal rights and established The Civic Club.
