Ms. Dorothy Jean Blanks' Obituary
Dorothy Jean Grady Blanks was born on January 1, 1957 in DeKalb, MS to the late Horace Bo and Lillie Ruth Grady.
She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Matthew Jenkins where she once served as a member of the usher board, mission society and pastor’s aid ministry.
She was a graduate of Meridian High School, Class of 1975, and worked at Avery Dennison as a machine operator for over 24 years where she then retired in 2004. In 2004, she decided to go back to school at Meridian Community College to obtain her Associate’s Degree in Business Office Technology. She enjoyed helping others in any way she could, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and having long conversations with her Aunt Annie Mae. She had many friends ranging from classmates, coworkers, school officials, doctors, nurses and most importantly, Jesus. Those who knew he will always remember her smile and how uplifting she was. She entered into enteral rest at her residence in Meridian, MS on December 24, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Lillie Ruth Grady; her grandsons: JaCobi Grady and Adrion Blanks; a special Aunt, Annie Mae Adams. She leaves to cherish her memories: four daughters: Leslie “Nikki” Grady (Meridian, MS); Nikita Grady (Atlanta, GA); Felicia Blanks (Meridian, MS); Dynecia Blanks (Livingston, AL); two brothers: Edward Grady (DeKalb, MS) and Howard Grady (Meridian, MS); six grandsons: Jared, Amharic, Austin, Aiden and Asaiah; Onie granddaughter: Empryss Milan; four stepchildren: Joseph Jr., Toskhia, Taracer and Angelica Blanks; one uncle, Samuel Anderson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
