Mrs. Dorothy Ann Brown's Obituary
Dorothy Ann Brown, affectionately known as “Dot” or “Big Mommy”, was born on March 20,1943 to the late Johnny Wesley and Lorrine Hardy.
Dot was one who, as most would call her a true woman of God. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with New Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Meridian, MS under the leadership of Pastor Stanley Coleman, Sr. She was a very active member until her health began to decline. She always made sure to start her day with gospel music playing and studying the Bible.
During her earthly time, she enjoyed many things life had to offer. She loved to cook, watch tv, especially soap operas, reading the newspaper and studying the Bible daily. She also loved talking on the phone and holding long conversations at a time to catch up on what could and just to see how things were going. She most of all loved spending time with her family and friends. Especially during the holidays where she loved to cook for everyone and seeing the joy on their face for just being thankful for the blessings God had given. Dot married the love of her life, Albert Brown, Jr. and to this union, three children were born.
The heavenly dispatch received a call from God to come and bring His child Dot , on home. She had fought the fight long enough and now her time of departure was at hand. Wednesday, January 5, 2022, Dot accepted God’s call and moved to her heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Lee Hardy; siblings: L.C. Hardy, Lenard Hardy, Kenny Ray Hardy, Donnie Ray Hardy, Rachel Hughes, Gertrude Johnson and Glenda Williams.
Dot leaves to honor her legacy and cherish her memory: her children:Roxie Brown Stephens and Gregory Dewayne Brown; two sisters: Beulah Mae Baskin and Lola Williams; one brother, Rudolph Hardy; five grandchildren: Robert Dion Pierce, Edward Stephens, Jr. (Tyteshia), Takeila Stephens (Ke’Ondre), Shay Harden (Gary) and Annie Jean Lee; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
