Mrs. Dorothy Jean Cameron McKenzie's Obituary
Dorothy Jean Cameron McKenzie was born on August 8, 1954 to James Cameron and Lurena Cameron in Quitman, MS. She joined Mt. Gilead Baptist Church at an early age. She graduated from Quitman High School and was employed with Lowe's Home Improvement for 15 years. Dorothy was affectionately known as "Dot" and "Sister" to those who knew her best. "Dot" enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends. "Dot" loved to play softball and was on various recreational adult softball teams. She also enjoyed watching football and NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing). In October of 2007 while she was working at Lowe's in Kingsland, Georgia, "Dot" won tickets which allowed her to sit in the sky box at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC. While living in Georgia, "Dot" attended Young Zion Baptist Church in St Marys, and faithfully served in the Ushers Ministry. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Crescent Chapter No. 64, in Folkston. "Dot" was called to her eternal home and received her wings on November 30, 2016. "Dot" was preceded in death by her father, James M. Cameron; her mother, Lurena "Sissy" Taylor Cameron; and her brother, Willie Lee Cameron. "Dot" leaves the following to cherish her memories: two loving and dedicated sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin {Tracey), St Marys, GA and Travis (Tia), Albemarle, NC; five loving grandsons: Charles, James, Kevonn, Kevin, and Kernan; her best friend: Katie Mae Scott and the Harrison family; and a host of nieces, cousins, Lowe's family and friends.
