Mrs. Dorothy A. Kirk's Obituary
Dorothy Ann Anderson was born September 1, 1946 to the late Robert and Rubell Brown Anderson in Quitman, MS. In life, she and 11 other siblings, would receive educational training at Twistwood Schools in Pachuta, and Shirley Owens Schools in Quitman. Her early spiritual training was received through New Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and later Mt. Pleasant MB Church in Pachuta.
She later married, became a mother of seven children and maintained employment with Burlington Industries in Stonewall, MS and Lakeside Livig Center in Quitman, MS. She departed this life on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Regency Hospital in Meridian, MS. All who knew her called her “Dot”. She was known as the “fun loving” aunt by her nieces and nephews and made each one feel like her favorite. Her home was the gathering spot for many family events and her laughter would ring out high above any other in her presence. In her battle with cardiovascular disease, she lost a leg, her voice,a Dan the functions of her heart…but she never lost her fighting spirit. As we all visited her bedside, we shared songs, prayers, and many laughs. Her sassy and warm smile will be remembered by all.
She was preceded in death by : a daughter, Shirley Lennett Russell; an infant grandson, Charles Adams Jr.; a husband, Chester Russell; four brothers: AC, Johnnie, CJ, and George Anderson; and two sisters, Annie Ruth Pruitt and Bennie Lee Johnson.
Left to cherish her memories are: her four daughters: Vickie Russell and Angie Russell of Laurel, MS; Terry Goldsmith (Ontarial Hightower) of Hampton, GA; and Stacie (Bobby) Wilson of Cypress, Texas; two sons, Chester Lavon Russell of Laurel, MS and Calvin Russell of Los Angeles, CA; one granddaughter-raised as a child- Tekeela Russell of Laurel, MS; a devoted companion, Jerry Bradley of Rose Hill, MS; four brothers: Robert (Iretta) Anderson, Jr. and Henry Anderson of Pachuta, MS; Willie Matthews of Laurel, MS; and Michael (Berta) Matthews of Stonewall, MS; four sisters, Trudie Watts of New Orleans, LA; Ethel Williams, Ellis Watts and Ruby Mae (Harold) Bolden of Pachuta, MS; one uncle, Harvey Anderson of Buffalo, NY; a former husband, Jeffery Kirk of Pachuta, MS; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews,cousins, other relatives and friends.
