Douglas, the fifth of seven children, was born on June 3, 1954, to the late to Deacon Sammie and Sis. Mattie Hodges Bourrage of Meridian, Mississippi. He attended Middleton Attendance Center and Northeast High School. Douglas, who started working in his teens, worked hard all of his life and even during the early years of his illness. He owned and operated B & B Logging Company. Douglas confessed Christ at an early age and he was a lifelong member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and was active in all facets of the church. Doug loved the Lord; he loved Galilee and he loved his family. He always went out of his way to help others even during his own illness. He was a man of integrity who others sought out for his sound opinions and support. He was blessed in marriage to Laverna Kennedy Bourrage for forty-three years, and this union was blessed with one son, Douglas Maurice Bourrage. Douglas’ health started to deteriorate several years ago and God blessed him with a double lung transplant. When his lungs again started to deteriorate, Gods grace kept him with his family.
