Mr. Earnest Ball's Obituary
On February 28, 1954, the late Joe and Irene Ball gave birth to their 15th child,a baby boy, and named him Earnest. He was the youngest son of nine boys. Earnest was born in Meridian, Mississippi, where he received his education through Meridian public schools. He attended Mount Barton Elementary, Magnolia and Carver Junior High Schools. It was in Meridian where he met and married the love of his life, Ann Gordon, on September 1, 1971. To this union five sons were born. Their marriage fulfilled God's Word "What therefore God hath joined together let no man put asunder." (Matt. 19:6) Their marriage withstood each test and each storm for 53 years. It was till death do us part. Earnest was employed by Structural Steel for 30 years as a Blaster Operator. He was described as a hard and dedicated employee. Earnest was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church as a child and young adult. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at the age of eight. Later he joined Bethel Baptist Church with his wife, where he served until, he received his wings. Earnest was an excellent provider, protector, loving husband, caring Grand and Great-Grandfather. He was a loving brother with a heartfelt smile. He enjoyed family gatherings and fellowshipping with close friends. He also loved fashion and looked like a GQ model when he stepped out in his suits, hats, and shoes! Earnest fought a good fight and kept the faith. After a short term of illness, on January 17, 2024, he departed this life while surrounded by his wife and family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Ann Gordon,Sons: Sedrick (Las Vegas) Shawn, Earnest, Antonio, and Danny Lee (Meridian.) Daughter: Tilo Washington (Ala.). Eight Grandchildren and five Great-grands. Five Sisters: Irene (Frank) Louise, Viola, Rosie (Dave) CA., Bettye (Ottis) LA., Mary (Meridian). Four brothers: Joe, Luke (Meridian), Jerome (CA.), Jack (Sandra) (III.); three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews , and friends; one nephew, Bobby Lang , was dedicated and supportive to Earnest until the end.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, four brothers: Johnny, James, John, and Will; and one sister, Lillie.
