Easter Mae Moss Spears was born April 12, 1925. She was the daughter of mother: Daisy (Moss) Dixon and father, Jack Wallace. Easter had 4 sisters: Deceased-Agnes Eakins, Janie Mae Wilson, Eliza Ann Jackson, and Lillie Ruth Hicks (sister-in-law). She had 1 brother: Deceased-ZL Dixon. She married her husband, Mr. Marshall James Spears (deceased) on August 7, 1945. They lived in Toomsuba, MS and had 8 children. There are 4 daughters: Living-Elnora Carson, Annie Ruth Spears Spencer (Darron), Edna Ruth Silliman, and Deceased-Daisy Mae (Spears) Hinton. There are 4 sons: Living-Spencer Spears, James Lester Spears, Dewayne Spears (Phyllis), and Alexander Spears. Easter attended school at Stevenson Public Schools in Toomsuba, MS. She retired from Meridian Public School System. She lived in Riderwood, Alabama from birth until she was 10 years old. She grew up in Toomsuba, MS and began raising her family there. She moved her family to Meridian, MS in 1968. Mother Easter was a longtime faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Meridian, MS. She has been a faithful member of her church family since the 1970 s. She served as a Director of Baptist Training Union (BTU) for 20+ years. She was the President of the choir for several years. She became the den leader for the local Cub Scouts for her children. She was also an Eastern Star member for almost 30 years. Mother Easter leaves behind a host of grandchildren: Mashanda Ruffin (Andy), Sha Ashley (Richie), Katrina Hinton, Tabatha Hinton, Aundria Hinton, Wanda Townsend, Glenn Spears, Andrias Mitchell (De‘Andre), Nasia Ruffin, Reece Ashley, Taliyah Carson, Vianca Cole, De 'Asia Ott, Brittany Hinton, Alex Hinton, Richie Ashley, Timothy Carson Jr., Timothy Terrell Wilkinson, Chris Hinton; Bri Barnes, Sienna Cole; De'van Mitchell, Robert Barnes, Dominic Cole, Damani Wilkinson, Jaidyn Wilkinson, Fantasia Jennings, Jason Windom, KeAsia Windom, Zorrien Windom, Adjavion Jackson, Kris Jackson, Antonia Oliver, Antonio Oliver, Jr., and Trelle Oliver; 3 deceased: Robert Cole, Jimmy Wayne Carson, and Timothy Carson. Also included are a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Nieces are Shirley Ruth Clark (RL), Sarah Gibson, Corene Witherspoon and their children, Lenora Heidelberg (Arthur) and her daughter, Lakeisha, Beatrice Weeks and her children, Davina Hicks and Regina Hicks. Nephews are Willie James Eakins (Dorothy Ann) and their children, Tommy Jean Eakins and his children, Richard Dewayne Eakins (Syvera) and their children, Charlie Eakins, Eugene Eakins and his children, Walter Lee Eakins and wife, John Henry Eakins (deceased), Michael Hicks (Rhonda), and Anthony Hicks (Stephanie).
