Mrs. Edna Mae Jackson-Scott's Obituary
EDNA MAE JACKSON-SCOTT was born March 29, 1922 to the late Steve and Caroline Wilson-Jackson in Boligee, Alabama. She accepted Christ at the age of eleven and united with the Saint James Baptist Church. She was educated at Green County Training School. After moving to Meridian, Mississippi, she united with Greater Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in 1948 under the pastorate of Rev. Brown. She was an active and dedicated member. She served in the Music Ministry, the Pastor's Aide Committee and the Ushers' Ministry. EDNA delighted in serving her fellowman. As an usher, she was always on time and ready to serve as a doorkeeper. She found great joy in cooking, and she prepared meals or special dishes for different occasions at the church. She served the public as a professional presser as an employee at various cleaners. She enjoyed serving and helping others and gained the love and respect of many. EDNA was never idle. She loved gardening, sewing, traveling and spending time with family and friend. She was known for her style, wearing beautiful hats. While being a pillar of love and strength for her family and others, she was also known for her housekeeping skills and always maintained a sparkling clean home. She was united in Holy matrimony to the late Nathaniel Scott. Their union was blessed with one son and four daughters. EDNA departed her earthly life for her eternal home to live with the Heavenly Father on Friday, January 16, 2015. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Jackson and Lee Jackson; four sisters, Carrie Rushing, Jeanette Jackson, Julia Nell Miller and Betty Womble, and a grandson, Darrell Scott. She leaves to cherish her memories, a very devoted family: Four daughters, Barbara (Tom) Nelson of Slidell, Louisiana, Carolyn Webster (Willie Lang), Hattie Scott and Shirley Kay (James) Moss, all of Meridian, Mississippi; One son, Howard Scott of Meridian, Mississippi; two sisters, Janie Dove of Cleveland, Ohio and Mary (Leon) McMillan of Detroit, Michigan; twelve (12) grandchildren; Frankie Nelson, Tommy Nelson, Tammy Dawson, Zinell Hall, Tommie Washington, Pamela Scott, Nicki Scott, Dr. Leonard Webster, Francine Nickles, Terisenia Shaffer, Toni Lloyd and Lonnie Collins, Jr.; thirty (30) great grandchildren, nine (9) great-great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Georgia Jackson and Louvenia Jackson of Detroit, Michigan; a special son, Carrrol Webster, a special god-grandchild, Kaydence Patton (Big Girl), a special caregiver, Michelle Walker, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
