Mrs. Edna Whitlock's Obituary
Edna Stennis Whitlock was born September 12, 1928 in Bailey, MS to the late Bill David Stennis and Essie Kelso Stennis. Edna attended Bailey Vocational School and Harris High School. She retired from Burnly Shirt Factory where she worked as a seamstress. Edna accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Bailey, MS where she served as a member of the Missionary Society, Sunday School Teacher, and pianist. She later united with the Savannah Grove Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully as Church Clerk, Missionary Society President, and on many other auxiliaries. She was a member of the Second New Hope District Baptist Women Auxiliary and Minister's Wives. Edna's first marriage was to Clifton Lewis and to this union two children were born: a son, Jimmie L. Lewis and a daughter, Edna Lynette Lewis, in 1980, she married Reverend Clinton Whitlock. This union lasted 38 years until his passing. Edna was a loving mother and grandmother. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandsons. Edna will be lovingly remembered by her son, Jimmie L. Lewis and daughter, Edna L. Lewis-Jenkins, a sister, Vallonia Davis; a brother in law, Arthur King; three grandchildren, LaShanda Garrett, Melvin T. Jenkins Jr. and Kelvin Jenkins and five great grandsons, Kerry McKenzie, Justin Brown, Tristin Jenkins, Caleb Jenkins, and Noah Jenkins; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and three sisters: Virginia Lewis, Walterine Stewart, and Essie King.
