Mrs. Elaine Hill Griffin's Obituary
Mrs. Elaine Hill Griffin was orn in Meridian, MS, on February 3, 1963, the daughter of Geneva Williams Hill and the late Curtis T. Hill, Sr. She was the seventh of thirteen children born to this blessed union. She was raised in Toomsuba, MS. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She served faithfully as a matron, choir member, pianist, and First Lady. Elaine graduated from Southeast Lauderdale High School, Class of 1981. She later attended Meridian Community College in Meridian, MS. She studied Floral Design at Texas A & M University in College Station, TX. On, June 4, 1990, she joined in holy matrimony to Reverend Edward C. Griffin, Sr. They were married 29 years. To this union, two sons and one daughter were born. She loved spending time and taking care of her family. She also enjoyed singing, playing piano, riding, shopping and as she would say "Slinging Flowers". She proudly supported her husband as he served as Pastor at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Cuba, Alabama, New Jerusalem Baptist Church of Meridian, Mississippi, and finally Green Hill Baptist Church of Toomsuba, Mississippi. While he served as Pastor of various churches, she was the First Lady and musician. At Green Hill, she was also a Sunday school teacher and Missionary President. She worked at Peavy Electronics for several years until the company downsized. She took this as an opportunity to pursue her interest in business. She loved flowers and that passion lead her to become the Proud Owner of N and J Florist and Gifts for 15 years. She departed this life on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, MS. She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis T. Hill, Sr., and two sisters, Catheline Hill and Rosie Lee Randolph. Her memories will forever be cherished by: A loving and devoted husband, Reverend Edward C. Griffin, Sr.; two sons: Edward Griffin Jr. and Joshua Griffin of Meridian, MS; a daughter: Natalie Hill of Meridian, MS; a loving mother: Geneva W. Hill ofToomsuba, MS; eight sisters: Jannie Walker of Colorado Springs, CO; Susie (Richard) Cross of Meridi-an, MS; Diane (Roosevelt) Carlisle of York, AL; Gloria Hill of Franklin, TN; Deloise (Shawn, deceased) Terrell of Antioch, TN; Renecia (Wyatt) Willis of Russell, MS; Stacey (Carlos) Harbin of Lawton, OK and Catrenia Hill of Murfreesboro, TN; two brothers: Curtis (Pam) Hill, Jr., of Russell, MS and Marcus (Nashawn) Hill of Madison, MS; two grand-children, Skylar Hill and Zane Hill of Meridian, MS; one aunt: Sadie M. Grace; 3 Brothers-in-law, Charles Griffin of Greenville, MS; Henry Griffin of Dallas, TX; Rev. Dr. A.D. Griffin of Tuscaloosa, AL; 4 sisters-in-law: Shirley Griffin of Southaven, MS; Gloria Shorter; and Rosie Williams of Greenville, MS; Mary Young of Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
