Mr. Eligah Naylor's Obituary
Eligah Naylor was born October 14, 1921 in Sucarnochee, Mississippi to the late John Wesley Naylor and Sally Tart Naylor. He was the 3rd of nine children from the union. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arcolar Simmons Naylor, two sisters, Ruth Naylor Jones and Jeanette Naylor Jones, five brothers: Broach Naylor, Johnny Naylor, James Naylor, J.C. Naylor and Howard Naylor.
Eligah confessed Christ at an early age and united with St. Matthew Church, Porterville MS. He later joined Simmons Chapel M.B. Church, Collinsville, MS. He met and married Arcolar Simmons in Holy Matrimony. To this union, they were blessed with 3 girls: a daughter, Vertia, stepdaughter, Sarah and his sister, Gladys.
He attended school in Porterville, MS. In 1942, he joined the United States Army and was later honorably discharged in 1944. He returned home and worked as a farmer. He later moved to Meridian, MS and was employed with the Atlas Roofing Company. He later was employed with Kroehler Manufacturing until he retired.
On Tuesday, April 16, 2013, he was called from his labor of life to a a peaceful rest. He leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Verta (Milton) Hudson of Meridian, MS; stepdaughter, Sarah (Eli) Alexander of Meridian, MS; one sister, Gladys Naylor Tanksley of Meridian, MS; two brothers, Hosie (Lucille) Naylor of Collinsville, Ms; Elton (Odie) Naylor of Chicago, IL; one uncle, Aaron Clayton of Lauderdale, MS; a special nephew, Nilly Tanksley of Meridian, MS; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
