Mr. Elijah James Carter's Obituary
Mr. Elijah James (Buddy) Carter was born on September 4, 1938 to the late Alfred and Louise Carter. Elijah united with Center Ridge Baptist Church at an early age. For many years, he worked as a bus driver in the Quitman Consolidated School System, in the Coal Mill in Pachuta, MS, and at Western Auto in Quitman, MS. Later in life he moved to Indianapolis, IN where he lived for about 36 years. There he joined Spirit of True Church under the Pastor Elder Bobby Finley, where he was a faithful member for years. Then he later rededicated his union back with Center Ridge Baptist Church. He made many friends and acquaintances throughout these years. Elijah entered into eternal rest on January 10, 2017 at the Community East Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Alfred and Louise Carter and one daughter Rubie Jean Lampley. Elijah leaves to cherish his memories a wife, Evelyn Carter and five loving and devoted daughters and two sons: Teresa (Ronnie) Willis of Indianapolis, IN., Rachel Evans, Janice (Charles) Evans, Sabrenia(Tommy) Carter all of Shubuta, MS., Regina (Fred) Boyd of Indianapolis, IN., Sylvester(Linda) Carter of Shubuta, MS., Dexter (Kathy) Carter of Indianapolis, IN. He also leaves to cherish three sisters and two brothers: Lure Lee (John L.) McFarland, Linda (Billy) McFarland all of Indianapolis, IN., Mary Kate Parks of Purvis, MS., A. C. Carter of Indianapolis, IN., Samuel (Shirley) Parks of Purvis, MS. He also leaves twenty-seven Grand Children, forty-one Great-Grand Children, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
