Mr. Elmer R. Kennedy's Obituary
Elmer Ray Kennedy, a son, was born to Mrs. Betra Kennedy and Mr. Frankie E. Kennedy on Friday, June 1, 1956 in Lauderdale County, Mississippi. During his youth, he accepted Christ and was baptized by Rev. C. 0. Inge, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Meridian, Mississippi. He enjoyed fellowshipping and singing in the choir. Elmo, as he was affectionately called, was educated in the Meridian Public School District and was a member of the 1974 graduating class of Meridian High School where he was a member of the basketball team. He furthered his education at Meridian Community College and Mississippi College.. He had a love for basketball and played in the City Leagues beyond high school for the enjoyment of the game. He also enjoyed membership in a local CB Radio Club. Elmer was a dedicated employee of Peavey Electronics and the Pearl River Resort/Silver Star Casino. He was a Mason and took pride in his membership in the East End Temple Lodge#476 and Taj Mahal Temple Lodge #137. God called Elmer Ray Kennedy from earth to glory, on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Anderson Regional Medical Center, Meridian, Mississippi. His father, Mr. Frankie E. Kennedy, preceded him in death. Cherishing beautiful memories are his loving wife of 39 years, Mrs. Cynthia Fisher Kennedy, of Meridian, Mississippi; Daughter, Bridgett Fisher of Meridian, Mississippi; mother, Betra Kennedy, Hartford, Connecticut; two sisters, Barbara Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy, both of Hartford; Grandson, Micah Lloyd, Meridian, Mother in Law, Mattie Fisher, Meridian; Aunts, Rosetta Wallace, Toomsuba, Miss. Mary Jenkins, Meridian, Miss., Bernice Kennedy Harford, Conn.; God-daughter, Vernecia Brookins; Nieces, Amicka, Chante and Destiny; Nephews, Boyce Fritz Jr., Fritz III, and Andre. Also cherishing his memories are his brother and sister in-laws, numerous cousins, extended family and friends.
