Mrs. Erma Jean Humphrey's Obituary
On Monday, October 27, 2014, the Almighty God in His infinite wisdom closed the eyes of our beloved Erma Jean Baylor-Humphrey, as she entered eternal rest. Erma Jean Baylor Humphrey, affectionately known as "Mott" was born on February 8, 1949 to the late Florence Mcclendon and Isaiah Baylor in Rosedale, Ms. Mott's love for people led her -into the medical profession as a Direct Care Worker at East Mississippi State Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 2012. She was also active in St John's Wellness Ministry, and was a proud member of the T.J. Harris Class of 1968 and enjoyed traveling with the Meridianite Picnic. She was full of life, the glue that held the family together, the peace maker, an ear to listen and wonderful advice giver, loved fashion and colors and not to speak of all the thousands of shoes in her closet. She was a Phenomenal Woman and had a conversation for all and never met a stranger. Mott gave to all in many ways ... Erma was united in matrimony to Robert Humphrey for 28 years. In addition to a loving husband, she is survived by three daughters whom she loved dearly; Lavesa (Mark) Wallace, Nikki Baylor, Zorika Baylor of Memphis, TN, and one son whom she adored Gerald (Rosalyn) Henderson, II, of Meridian, MS. Mott's grandchildren; T'Shandyosha, Skyi, Gerald, Bobby, Tyler, DeJuan, Tyrek, Christopher, Marcus and great grandchildren; Chance, Seth, Amillion, Jamaal, Tierani and Trinity brought special joy to her life. Additionally, Mott is survived by sisters; Joann Mcclendon, "Ann" (S.K.) Baylor-Mathis, and Jean Baylor Chamberlain and brother's David Baylor, Tony Baylor and Major Baylor. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, sister in laws, brother in laws, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly. She also remained cordial to the father of her children; Gerald Henderson, Sr. Mott was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.
