Master Ethan Charles Moody's Obituary
Master Ethan Charles Moody was born Augbust 23, 2010 at Anderson's Hospital in Meridian, MS. He was the third child born to his parents, Eric and Marshia Moody. Ethan lost his battle with Juvenile Asthma on Tuesday January 22, 2019 at 2:57 a.m. in route to Watkins Memorial Hospital while in the arms of his loving mother. Ethan gave his life to the Lord and was baptized at an early age. He served as a member of Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ray Arrington. Ethan was very active in church. At the age of five, he expressed an interest in playing the drums, so he started playing snare drum at church. Since Ethan showed such promise and dedication, the church surprised him with the purchase of a full set of drums. He did not let them down. Ethan practiced diligently and taught himself to play drums. He faithfully served as the church's drummer until his ultimately death. He was musically gifted and was not only self taught on drums, he also learned to play the four stringed bass guitar and lead guitar. He loved playing those drums. One Sunday while playing, the spirit fell upon him and began to sweat so rapidly, that his mother came concerned. She fanned his face and asked him to stop and slow down. Ethan replied "I can't stop! I can't stop!" Ethan was also an active member of the Usher Board and served as a Junior Deacon of the church. To be such a young man, Ethan had an "old" soul and supported the ministry of the church by visiting the elderly who were sick. Ethan was in the 2nd grade class of Quitman Lower Elementary School. He was also a cub scout with Troop 35 in Quitman. He was popular at school and loved spending time with his classmates, especially his bestfriend, Layne Smith. At home he often talked about what he and Layne did at school, and he made story telling an art. Ethan was an ourdoorsman, although he had severe juvenile asthma, he loved the outdoors and never let his illness get the best of him. He loved animals. He loved playing football, gardening, and hunting. He was also a builder and could be seen outside hammering and nailing to make things work for him. Ethan was well known throughout his community. Ethan was love. He expressed his love to his family and friends and always wanted to be the center of attention. This year, Ethan had a special Christmas in Lancaster, Texas, where he and his family traveled with his Aunt Vera to spend Christmas with Vera's son Derrick and his family. Ethan was so excited about Christmas in Texas. He enjoyed the opportunity to shop alone like a big boy, with his cousin Bryson; but he was glad to get back home to receive a special gift that he requested from Santa. He asked Santa for a special friend. Santa left the friend at the dog pound and allowed Ethan to pick her out all by himself. Ethan said, when his eyes met "Queen" (his Christmas dog), he knew she was the one. He loved Queen and cared for her with such passion. Ethan was loved by so many, who will miss him. His mother often said how special he was and that he had a special assignment on earth from the Lord. Ethan fulfilled his assignment by spreading laughter, fun, and most importantly showing what true LOVE is. The loved ones left to cherish his memories are: his loving parents Eric and Marshia Moody, three sisters, Destiny Nixion, Heidelberg, MS; Erian and Emari Moody, Quitman, MS; grandmothers: Barbara Lloyd Chaney, Meridian, MS; and Sally Moody, Quitman, MS; uncles: Clarence Satcher (Toshia), Laurel, MS; and Dwayne Barnett, Champaign, IL, great aunts: Janet Lloyd Ewing, Tupelo, MS; Dorothy Lloyd Croft; and Betty Ann Knott of Meridian, MS; and Vera Lloyd Walker of Jackson, MS; Mary Jones (Edward) and Mildred Barnett both of Heidelberg, MS; Ardell Moody, North Hills, CA; great uncles: Calvin (Flossy) Watson, Milwaukee, WI; Guy Wayne Davis (Vanessa) of Meridian, MS; D.S. (Dorothy) Satcher, Heidelberg, MS; Herbert (Maragret) Moody, Waynesboro, MS; Stanford (Fronnie) Quarles, Brookhaven, MS; George Moody, Hattiesburg, MS; and Sam Satcher Jr. of Vossburg, MS. Ethan used #23 on all his sports jerseys; not because of Michael Jordan or anyone else. It was his favorite scripture Psalms 23. At such a young age, Ethan leaves a host of cousins and other relatives, friends, dear classmates, and a special friend Layne Smith; who will cherish his memory and remember the ever lasting affect of how having known Ethan Charles Moody, who has earned his heavenly wings!
