Mrs. Ethel Lee Clay-McCallum's Obituary
A wife, mother, aunt, sister, daughter, and friend, Mrs. Ethel (Sapphire) Lee Clay-McCallum was born September 26, 1955 to the late Mr. & Mrs. John M. Clay Sr. At a very early age she confessed Christ as her Lord and personal Savior and became a member of Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Ethel (Sapphire) was a very sweet and kind hearted woman. After the death of her mother (Maggie Mae), she stepped into position and took on the roll of mother for her remaining siblings. She was a devout and dedicated worker, never missing a day of work before her health failed. Mrs. Ethel loved children and helped raise her nieces and nephews. She lived her life, loving, giving and serving others. She surrendered to the call from her eternal father on February 4, 2015. Preceding her in death are her parents Mr. John M. (Maggie Mae) Clay and brother John M. Clay Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory a son; Kirby (Chardai) Clay (Meridian, MS), three brothers Mr. John Franklin (Genesta) Clay (Meridian, MS), Joseph (Elizabeth) Clay (Meridian, MS), Robert King Clay (Meridian, MS); three sisters Anna (James) Steffen (Joliet, IL), Juanita Clay (Meridian, MS), and Mary (Leon) Archibald (Pensacola, FL); one first cousin Mattie Nelson (Meridian, MS); great cousins Catherine Smith and Carmen Smith (Meridian, MS); 8 grand children and a host of nieces, great niec-es, nephews, great nephews, cousins and friends. Other special people in her life are: Rodregus (Shantelle) Davis, (Lawton,OK); LeDerick Chaney (Meridian, MS); and Ora (Johnny) Hall (Lauderdale, MS);
