Mrs. Eva Lee Johnson's Obituary
Eva Lee Johnson was born December 16, 1942 in Hickory, Mississippi to the late Carrie johnson Norman and Gavin Barrett. She was the oldest of nine children. Mother Johnson learned her great working ethics in her early formative years from her maternal grdndparents Lillie Boose Johnson and Charlie Johnson. She attended the N.H. Pilate High School where she graduated in Newton, Mississippi in 1961. Soon after graduating, Mother Johnson moved to Flint, Michigan in I 961. She found employment at a local retail store and finally was employed by General Motors (GM) for twenty eight years until her retirement. Mother Johnson dedicated her life to Christ at Harris Memorial Church of God in Christ and served faithfully under the leadership of the late Elder TR. Harris, the late, Bishop Walter E. Bogan, Sr. and Elder Eric Bogan. She served in the local hospitality auxiliary, as well as the State auxilia,y, the usher board and the church kitchen committee. Baking her pound cake was her specialty. In 2012 Mother Johnson relocated to Newton, Mississippi where she joined Russel Temple Church of God in Christ. After two years she decided to move to Cordova, Tennessee to be near her only son, Garvin. She became a faithful member of Jubilee Church of God in Christ, Elder Greg and Lady Sandra presiding Elder.
Mother Johnson truly loved her family, especially her grandchildren (Gavin and Kingston). She had a spirit of hospitality and loved to host large dinners for any occasion. her favorite hobby was to sew and crochet.
Mother Eva johnson leaves to cherish precious memories: a loving and devoted son, Gavin e. Johnson of Memphis, TN; five sisters: Ida Long of Gulfport, MS, Alice (Edward) Boggan of Flint, MI, Annie Mae Johnson of Aliso Viejo, CA, Mary (Willie) Bailiff of Decatur, MS and Linda Gardner of Burton, MI; one brother, James Charles Norman of Jackson, MS
Mother Jonson was preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Johnson Norman, father, Gavin Barrett; brother, Jerry Norman; sister, Shirley Graham and grandparents: Charlie Johnson, Lillie B. Johnson and Anna Barrett.
