Mrs. Evelyn Jones' Obituary
The beloved Evelyn Jones was born in Meridian, MS on March 26, 1939, to Mr. Lewis Coleman and Cynthia Radford-Coleman. She went home to be with the Lord on March 10, 2022, while fishing at Druid Hills Lake. Evelyn attended Harris High School where she met and later married the love of her life, Mr. Henderson Jones, Jr. Evelyn and Henderson were happily married for 48 years. Henderson preceded her in death on January 27, 2007. The couple was blessed with two children -Vikki and James. After the Coleman family moved to Marion, MS, Evelyn attended and graduated from Bailey Vocational School in 1958. She worked various jobs during her career and eventually retired from the Lauderdale County School Systems. Evelyn loved God and was an active and devoted member of St. Peter United Methodist Church in Marion, MS. She had many hobbies including cooking, sewing, ceramics, crocheting and gardening but most of all she enjoyed fishing. Evelyn's greatest joy came from spending time with her husband, family and friends. She will be remembered as loving, kind and devoted wife, mother, neighbor, friend and example Christian. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 48 years; sisters -Blanche Nicholson (Samuel -Deceased) and Lillie Coleman; brothers -Ernest Ray and Boner Coleman; granddaughter --De Vonda Leni' Spencer; and nephew --Roy Christopher King. She is survived by her daughter Vikki Taylor-Sanders (Herman Sanders); son James Jones; four grandchildren --Jonathan Jones (Elsie · Jones), Jaquez Jones, Javon Jones and Joshua Jones; two great grandchildren -Khloe Spencer and Harlee Jones; siblings -Richard Coleman (Rene -Deceased), Charles Coleman (Fannie), Ora Barrett (Able -Deceased), Sarah King (Roy), Norman Coleman (Peggy), Oscar Coleman (Bonnie), and Cynthia Diann Willis (Daniel); Step grandson --Corey Sanders(Nicole ), Step great grandchildren -Corey Sanders Jr. and Cole Sanders; a host of nieces and nephews; and Godchildren -Glen and Doris Moody.
