Mrs. Evelyn Bernice Jones Rush's Obituary
Evelyn Bernice Jones Rush, was born April 7, 1943 to the late Sam Jones and Hunnie B. Blanks Jones in Daleville, MS. Ms. Rush departed this life on January 31, 2021 at
Anderson Regional Medical Center, Meridian, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents: Sam and Hunnie B. Jones; sisters: Ester P. Jones, Pearlie Powell, and Elmira Scott;
Brothers: Sam Jones Jr, Lonnie Jones Sr, and Willie Jones. Ms. Rush was educated in Sterenson Elementary and Middleton Attentance Center of Lauderdale County.
Ms. Rush accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope
Baptist Church of Toomsuba, MS, later united with Mt. Bethel Baptist Church of Meridian, MS where she loved singing God's praises in the church choir.
Ms. Rush retired from NAS Meridian after many years of serving the enlisted service men and women.
Ms. Rush leaves to cherish her memory two sons: Louis (Brenda) Cockrell Jr and Billy Crockett; three daughters: Cathy Crockett, Shelia Moton, and Bertha Witherspoon all of Meridian, MS, a dear granddaughter: Janiya Smith; sisters: Annie Prince, Lucinda Jones, and Christine Jones; brothers: Jessie Jones and Agusta Lee Jones all of Meridian, MS, Eddie (Rita) Jones of San Diego, CA; 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grand children, a special friend: Jeanette Clark, and many other family and friends.
