Mrs. Florence Edmonson's Obituary
Florence Edmonson, age 97, was born on September 12, 1915, in Pachuta, Mississippi to William and Fannie Edmonson. She was the oldest of seven siblings. Professing faith and accepting Christ at an early age, Florence was baptized at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church in Pachuta, Mississippi. After leaving Pachuta, Florence "Sister" lived and worked in New Orleans, Louisiana and Grand Rapids, Michigan before settling in Detroit, Michigan where she worked as a seamstress until her retirement. She then returned to Pachuta in 1975 where she resided until her earthly departure and sunset on September 11, 2013, an hour and a half short of her 98th birthday. Florence met and married the late Robert Lee "Tobe" Pruitt. Unto this union two children were born -Mildred Pruitt Griggs and Edna Marie Pruitt. To cherish her memories Florence leaves one daughter, Edna "Pumpkin" Pruitt of Pachuta, MS and five of her six siblings; Marie C. Johnson of Cordova, TN, Edna E. Brown of Pachuta, MS, Wilson Edmonson (Nellie) of Sacramento, CA, Bessie Allen of Chicago, IL and William Edmonson, Jr. of Pachuta, MS; three grandsons; Tracey Griggs of Detroit, Ml, Michael Griggs (Michelle) of Detroit, Ml and Kenneth Pruitt (Michelle) of Detroit, Ml; twelve great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her passing two special friends; Harry Gordon and Bruford Barnett, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Both parents, her oldest daughter, Mildred Pruitt Griggs, and one of her sisters, Maudell V. Phillips preceded her in death.
