Mrs. Frankie Reed Newman's Obituary
Mother Frankie Reed Newman was born on November 4, 1922 in Clarke County, Mississippi to the late Loraine Hall Reed and Daniel (Dan) Reed. She transitioned this life on February 24, 2018 at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. Mrs. Frankie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Enterprise, Mississippi. Later she joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church in Enterprise, Mississippi. She attended Brown School in Clarke County. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Herbert Newman, Jr. on October 18, 1940. During their 70 year union, six children were born: Dorothy, William, Freddie, Mary, Lorena, and Debra.
Mrs. Frankie was employed as a cafeteria worker with the Enterprise School District. This job afforded her the opportunity to do what she loved, cooking and being around children. Mrs. Frankie was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Alex, Curtis, and James Hardaway and Oscar Reed; two sisters: Caroline Pruitt and Helen Neadham; and one loving grandson, Dr. Derek Tyrone Smith. She was also a loving parent to Andrew Jones who she reared and who preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters: Dorothy Locket, Enterprise, MS; Mary Helen (Samuel) Walley and Lorena Smith, Gautier, MS; Debra Newman, Lithonia, GA; her sons: William Henry Newman, Biloxi; Freddie (Hilda) Newman, Enterprise, MS; her 26 grandchildren, her 26 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
