Mrs. Geneva Moore Harvey's Obituary
Mrs. Geneva Moore Harvey passes peacefully from this life on October 9, 2018. She was at here home with her loving daughter and faithful caregiver, Mrs. Annette Harvey Williams. Geneva was born on March 14, 1919 to the union of King Solomon Moore and Amanda Jane Jackson Moore. She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lauderdale, MS.
On April 13, 1940, Geneva married Rollie “Bilbo” Harvey in Lauderdale. They later moved to Meridian, MS and joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor J.T. Flynn. She was a dutiful and supportive member for 78 years.
To their union was born eight children, Barbara, Charles, Annette, Jeanette, Rollie, Jacqueline, Robert and Cheryl. They loved and raised their beloved daughter’s (Barbara) children, Yolanda and Rodney.
Ms. Geneva Harvey is survived by her children: Mrs. Annette Williams, Mrs. Jeanette (William) Campbell, Mr. Rollie (Marcia) Harvey, Jr., Mrs. Jacqueline (Willie) Brown, Mr. Robert (Carol) Harvey , Mrs. Cheryl (Joseph) Paige, Mrs. Yolanda (Kenneth) Hodges, and Mr. Rodney (Elaine) Harvey, fourteen (14) grandchildren, fifteen (15) great-grandchildren and three (3) great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by hear husband Rollie, her daughter, Barbara Jean, son, Charles, and brother, Grady Mosley.
Mrs. Geneva Harvey was a long-time member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a Foster Grandmother at Witherspoon Elementary School and Wesley House where she extended her love and kindness to children beyond her own. Mrs. Geneva Harvey was much loved by her family, friends, church and community because she loved so generously. She was a joyful soul and a remarkable, gifted and God-loving woman. Her spirit continues to inspire everyone she touched.
