Mr. George Price's Obituary
On this day we celebrate the home going of Reverend George Price. He was born May 25, 1935 to the late Carrie Washington Price and the late George Cotton in Enterprise, Mississippi. He departed this life on October 8, 2013 at 11:40 a.m. in Rush Hospital (Meridian, Mississippi). He joined Magnolia Methodist Church at an early age. Later, after moving to Chicago, he joined Mary Magdalene Missionary Baptist Church and served as Sunday School teacher, ordained deacon and minister, and assistant pastor and sang in the choir. He attended Moody Bible Institute. Returning to Enterprise to live, he reunited in the work of the Methodist churches. He joined Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Meridian. He served as Pastor of the five churches on the Enterprise Charge and New Mount Zion and Saint John United Methodists Churches. He was also the Pastor of three churches on the Lake Circuit, three churches on Preston Deemer, two churches on the Waynesboro Circuit, and four churches on Philadelphia Parish. Reverend Price attended West Enterprise Elementary and Junior High School. He graduated from Shirley-Owens High School (Quitman, Mississippi) in 1956. He also attended Meridian Community College. He also furthered his religious education at Emory Uni-versity, Atlanta, Georgia. He established a jail ministry in Meridian and Quitman, Mississippi. He served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged. He was a driver for a major grocery store in Chicago, Treasure Island Finer Foods, until his retirement. He continued to work and served the communities by performing horticulture tasks and machinery repairs. Reverend Price married Phyllis Weber, and to this union a son, Gregory Francis Price was born. He is survived by his daughters: Charlotte French and Jewell Hamilton of Chicago, Illinois; two sons: Frederick Neal of Chicago, Illinois and Gregory Francis Price of Chicago, Illinois; step-daughter: Tosha Hoskin of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren: Dennis Leaks, Jr., Jennifer Leaks, Oonnovan Leaks (Buddy), Tyshiana Jackson, Terrelle Jackson, Chardae French, and Shequittia Brickhouse; four great grand children: Manniya Murphy, Gavin Leaks, Alyssa Leaks, and Lauren Leaks. He is also survived by his sisters-in laws: Willie Elmer Price of Enterprise and Lola Bell Price Goines of Racine Wiscon-sin; brothers-in-laws: Garo Spears and Willie Kirk both of Chicago, IL; special friend, Ylondi Sue. Stanley of Enterprise; god-daughter, Kendra Stanley; god-grandson, Kedrian Parks; god-mother: Sis Velma (Sis Red) Husband; and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, Reverend Price is preceded in death by his sisters: Ella Mae Price, Edna Ruth Spears, and Doris Kirk; his brothers: J.C. Price, Samuel Price, Sr., and Frank Price, Sr., his daughter Georgia Melanie Price and her mother Mildred Shaw Price.
