Mr. George Woods' Obituary
George Woods was born on October 14, 1941 in Scooba, Mississippi to George Woods and Mary Little. He attended both elementary and high School in Scooba, Mississippi. In 1959 he relocated to Chicago, Illinois in pursuit of economic growth. Shortly after relocating to Chicago he met Barbara Sanders and the two would later marry in 1964. One child, Deadra, was born to that union. He became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, a church his then wife, Barbara attended In 1964, he secured employment at Acme Steel located in Riverdale, Illinois and he remained employed there until his retirement in 1990. Following his retirement, he relocated to Meridian, Mississippi and purchased a small convenience store that he owned and operated for over 20 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Little, his father, George Woods, his three brothers, Walter Woods, Willie Woods and Louis Woods; his three sisters, Maggie Barnes, Georgia Lee Green and Lula Little. Left to forever cherish his memory is his daughter, Deadra Woods Stokes (Paul), his two granddaughters, Malaika Imani Stokes and Nya Simone Stokes, his sisters, Doris Nicholson (Lonnie), Susie Smith (Richard), !let Dale and Malree Moore (Albert), a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish his memory and miss him dearly.
