Mrs. Georgia Mae Ramsey's Obituary
Georgia Mae Ramsey was born on February 13, 1948 to the late George Gordon and Marie Wilson in Meridian, MS. She was the fourth of six children born to this union. Georgia Mae accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age at Tabernacle United Methodist Church. It was there that she would rededicate her life to Christ in adulthood. Georgia gave birth to her first son, Lee Arthur (Nunk) Clark, with the late Henry Lee (Sonny Buddy) Clark. She later met and married the late Milton Junior Ramsey, and from this union Melvin Junior Ramsey was born. Georgia worked briefly for Eastern Gardens Apartment Complex, but spent most of her career as a full-time mother and homemaker. She was very kindhearted with a great sense of humor. She loved her children and her grandchildren dearly, but she had a special love for her grandson Ledarious, who she affectionately called "her baby". She enjoyed cooking and cleaning for her sons as well as collecting memorable keepsakes of those she deeply treasured. On April 21, 2022 Georgia Mae Ramsey peacefully transitioned to eternal rest surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents: George Gordon and Marie Wilson; stepfather: Willie Shack; one son: Melvin Ramsey; three sisters: Carrie Mae Gordon, Margaret Johnson, and Ethel Mae Gordon; one nephew: A. C. ( Lee) Alford, Jr.; one niece: Teresa Alford; and one great-great nephew: Tristin Jenkins. She leaves to forever cherish her memory her loving and devoted son who was truly dedicated to the care of his mother: Lee (Donna) Clark; one sister: Mildred Alford; three grandchildren: Le Andre (LaRhonda) Odoms, LeAndrea Monique Bramlett and LeDarious Clark all of Meridian, MS; a special friend, Renee' Smith, who she affectionately referred to as "her baby girl". She also leaves five great-grandchildren; six nephews: Willie C. (Jennie) Alford, H.B. (Patsy) Alford, Ace Lee Alford, Chubby Checker Alford, Harold Lee (Pamela) Alford, and Eric Gene Alford; siX nieces: Mae C. Alford, Marice Alford, Bella Alford, and Landon Marie Alford all of Meridian, MS, Unrica Alford of Baton Rouge, LA and Maliyah Alford of Atlanta, GA; and a host of other relatives, and many special friends who will miss her dearly.
