Mrs. Gertruline D. Rush's Obituary
Longevity of life is a blessing for an individual, family and for a community which benefits from the knowledge, creativity and experiences this individual brings to all. Mrs. Rush's life was one well lived, she described herself as someone who always tried to be nice and who lived by the Golden Rule which entails, "treating people right" and love one another. She is described by others as being wise, very humble and very grateful for everything you did for her. She is also described as being easy to get along with, someone who took pride in her appearance, and was a good listener and friend. She was a wise Mother, Granny, Sister and Aunt. Mrs. Rush was a woman of great faith who loved her church family at Macedonia Primitive Baptist in Meridian, Mississippi and has been a member all of her adult life. She prayed that as long as "God catches her soul and have mercy" she is alright. Mrs. Rush worked many jobs during her lifetime including domestic house keeper, cook and cashier. Her favorite activities were fishing arid gardening. She also enjoyed socializing with her friends on the fish bank. She enjbyed trips to the hair salon and an occasional manicure. Mrs. Gertruline Davidson Rush was born one of twin girls in Millers Ferry, Wilcox County, Alabama on October 11, 1919. She married Mr. Jessie Rush of DeKalb, Mississippi on February 14, 1938. Nine children were born to this union, sons Grady, Lawrence, O.C. and Ricky Rush, daughters, Irene Rush Wade, Mary Rush Jones, Patricia "Pat" Rush Brown, Alinda Rush Brown and Gloria Rush McDonald. Barbara Peters White is the "adopted" daughter into the family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jessie, sons Grady, Lawrence, daughters, Irene, Patricia, grandchildren Bryan Christopher Jones, Rodney Bernard Rush, and Stephen Rush. She leaves to cherish her memory sons 0. C. Rush, Ricky Rush, daughters Mary Rush Jones (Billy Joe), Alinda Rush Brown, Gloria Rush McDonald (Mark) and "adopted" daughter Barbara Peters White, and son-in-law Josh Brown. Grand Children, Lawrence Rush, Jr. (Vicky), Fred Rush (Jackie), Chris Rush (Michelle), Jeff Rush (Kiwanna), Jennifer Miles (Dennis), Andrew McDonald (Heather), Jesse McDon.ald, Ronald Brown (Patrice), children of Grady Lorraine, Angela, Kim, Veronica and Daryl, "adopted" granddaughter Tiffany Anderson, numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. Two sisters Corine Holliday (Kelly), Anna Cora Jones, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
