Mrs. Gloria Jean Garner's Obituary
Our mother, Gloria Jean, transitionedfrom her earthly home, on March 10, 2021. Affectionately known as Pee Wee, she was born to Larnie Lorenzo Thomas and Helen Mae Clark Thomas. She was proceeded in death by her father, Larnie Thomas; two brothers, William Thomas and Gerald Thomas; one sister, Annie Price; one grandchild, Isidra Simpson; and her best-friend, Dianne McClendon. Gloria was educated within the Meridian Public School system at West End Elementary School and T.J Harris High School in which she graduated in 1962. Gloria Jean was a woman that was not afraid to work. She always believed that you never had to be ashamed of any job you performed as long as it was an honest job being paid with a legal wage. Her employment ranged from Sun--beam Bread in Chicago, IL; Peavy Electronics in Meri_dian, MS; General Motors-Delco Remy in Meridian, MS; and in 1990, she transferred to the General Motors-Saturn Corporation in Spring Hill, TN She remained with the company until she happily retired in July 2006. At a young age, Gloria corifessed her life to Christ and joined New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Savoy, MS. When she moved to Tennessee, she began her search to find a place of worship. She found a new church home with First Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, TN Upon retiring from General Motors; Gloria moved back to Meridian, MS and reunited with New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church-Savoy ... she was back home!! As a faithful member, she served as the President of the Usher Board; Sunday school member; and the Missionary Society. Everyone that knew Gloria was aware of her passion of working in her yard, her love of flowers and plants; and · most importantly, her family. She was a very supportive mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was respected and loved by those whom God allowed to enter her life. Her memory will always be treasured by her family and friends. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her mother, Helen Thomas; one son, Adrien Dubose; four daughters, Nina Charlette Trotter and Karen Garner of Meridian, MS; Marian Garner of Greensboro, NC; and Kristi (Russ) Garner of Albany, GA; three brothers, Walter (Tommie Jean) Clark of Ellisville, MS, Charles (Inez) Thomas, Sr. of Catahoula, MS, Kenneth (Mildred) Thomas, Sr. of Purvis, MS; one sister, Sheryl (Willie Earl) Willis, Meridian, MS; a loving sister-in-law, Barbara Thomas, Meridian, MS; a loving brother-in-law, Elmer Price of Fort Worth, TX; ten grandchildren: Adria (Nate) Godson, Dominique Boose, Kennon Garner, Jimaria (James) Lewis, ,Andrea (Garreth) Hubbard, Jitara Garner, Adrien Boudreaux, Jasmine (Stacy) Dye, Kameron Naylor, and Gabriel Harper; eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
