Mrs. Grace Burton Clark's Obituary
Mrs. Grace Burton was born July 26, 1907 in Lauderdale, MS to the late Elihu (Hook) Burton and. The late Margaret Kelly Burton. at an early, Mrs. Clark joined the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cuba, AL. Later after moving, she united with the Eight Avenue Church of God in Meridian, MS where she became a faithful and active member of the church. She worked with the usher board, women connection, church choir, vacation bible school and other auxiliaries local and state. She attended the Meridian Baptist Seminary and graduated in 1933. Sister Clark taught school for many years in Lauderdale County. Mrs. Clark was also very active in the community. She served for many years as a Foster Grandparent for the Head Start Centers, where she received recognition from the news media as the oldest Foster Grandparent in Meridian, MS.
She was married to the late Willie Hall who preceded her in death. She later married CJ Clark who also preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing: her favorite and devoted nephew, Wayne Whitehead of Atlanta, GA; her caretakers and great nieces, Brenda Kirkland and Rachael Jones, both of Birmingham, AL; and a host of other relatives and friends that loved her dearly.
