Mr. Grace Fortner's Obituary
Grace Fortner was born to Will and Lou Fortner on August 6, 1948 in Kemper County, Mississippi. On December 9, 1967, he was joined in holy matrimony to Susan Jackson. Grace spent his working years on the railroad where he retired in 1999 after 30 years. He was a devoted deacon of Oak Grove CME Church of Lauderdale, MS for many years. He is proceeded in death by his parents; his son, Douglas Fortner; his brothers, LC. Fortner, Robert Lee Fortner, and Zack Fortner; and his sisters, Willie Anne Pollard, Callie Bee McDade, and Viola Watkins. On December 6, 2022, at Columbia Healthcare and Rehab Center of Lauderdale, Grace Fortner was called home. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Grace leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 54 years, Susan Fortner; sons, Alvin (Bobbie) Fortner of Toomsuba, MS; Arthur (Aleesha) Fortner of Shuqualak, MS; Fredrick (Anita) Fortner of Raymond, MS; Daniel (Monica) Fortner of Lauderdale, MS; Gregory Fortner of Lauderdale, MS; a sister, Annie Ruth Hopson of Stonewall, MS; brothers, Jessie (Essie) Fortner of East St. Louis, MO and Willie Lee Fortner of Chicago, IL; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
