Mr. Granzy Lee Wimbley's Obituary
Granzy Lee Wimbley was born on October 4, 1933 to the late Willie Wimbley, Sr. and Mary Jackson Wimbley. He was affectionately called “Shorty” and many called him “Mr. Shorty”.
Granzy confessed his faith and committed his life to Christ at an early age at St. John AME Zion Church (now known as St. John United Methodist Church), Quitman, MS. Upon graduating from Shirley Owens High School, Granzy moved to Cleveland, Ohio for awhile, but moved back home where he started working at Greer’s Grocery until his health started to fail. “Shorty” being the man that we all know and love became a handy man for Gil Carmichael until 2005.
Due to several illnesses, Granzy was admitted to Lakeside Living Center and remained there until he peacefully passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013. Granzy is survived by two sisters: Eloise Baldwin, Lemoore, CA and Florine (Jack) Jones, Letohatchee, AL; three nieces; eight nephews; four great nieces; one great-great niece; and a host of friends and family. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Shorty was a friend to all.
