Mrs. Gwan Richardson Goodwin's Obituary
Gwan Octavia Lashawn Richardson passed on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2021 at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. Gwan was preceded in death by her late father Benjamin De Laney, her late daughter LaTavia Richardson, and her late grandmother Virginia Lee Burell. She is survived by her mother Diana Richardson, her husband Cornelius Goodwin, and her children Dominic Norrington, Octavia Goodwin, Cornelius Goodwin Jr, and Ashleigh McGowan. Her sisters Alexandria Damaron, Bianca De Laney, and brother Adrian Kiili. Gwan graduated from Enterprise High School in 1997, shortly after she joined the Navy and was stationed in Hawaii. She served from 2000 to 2005. While in the Navy she earned her Dental Assistance Degree. After her honorary discharge, she decided to further her education and earned yet another degree. She then pursued her career as a medical scribe at Anderson Hospital in Meridian. Being a mother was her greatest joy in life. Her children were her happiness and without knowing it they allowed her to keep fighting to the very end.
