Mrs. Gwendolyn Graham's Obituary
Mrs. Gwendolyn C. Graham was born to the late Rev. W Lamar Dixon, Sr., and Mrs. Letha Waiters Dixon on July 11, 1963. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior at St. Mary Baptist Church and was baptized into the Christian family at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church (Savoy). She served faithfully at New Prospect as a choir member, Sunday School teacher, Announcement Clerk, Matron, Drill Team Leader, and Girl Scout Leader. Presently, she was one of the founding members of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church where she served as secretary/treasurer and ministry coordinator. Mrs. Graham's pursuit of academic excellence began as she matriculated through the Meridian Public School System and graduated with honors in the Meridian High School Class of 1981. She graduated from Alcorn State University in three years with a Bachelor's Degree (Business Administration). She later attained a Master's Degree from Mississippi State University. She united in Holy Matrimony with Mr. James Graham on June 29, 1998. Mrs. Graham was a proud, lifelong member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She served as President, Vice President, Corresponding Secretary, Debutante Committee Member, Relay for Life Chair, and Risk Management Coordinator. Her goal in life was to always help people in whatever way she could. Mrs. Graham began her work as an educator in the Meridian Public School System. She worked over twenty years in Children's Therapy at Weems Community Mental Health Center. She also served as Shelter Director at Care Lodge for about ten years. She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings: William (and his wife Katherine) Dixon, 11, and David Eldridge Dixon. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, James Graham; her children, Jesse (Danielle) Hill, Jr., and Jamica (Joseph) Boswell; her grandchildren, Jayleigh Boswell, Jyles Boswell, and Olivia C. Hill; and her siblings, Vivian (Donald) Naylor, Marvin (Audrey Lynn) Dixon Sr., and Ann Dixon. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
