Mr. Harry Leon "Pete" Boykin's Obituary
Harry Leon Boykin was born June 10, 1968 in Lauderdale, MS to the union of Harry Boykin and Diannie Smith. He departed this life February 9, 2019 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his Father Harry Boykin, Sr.
Mr. Pete as he was loveling called was educated in the Meridian Public School where he graduated in 1988. He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized into East Mt. Moriah Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. R.L. Bohonnon where he was an active. Sunday School student.
He had a passion for sports always playing football, basketball, baseball and running track. The shortest red-head kid in the pack, always trying his best. He helped bring MHS to championship in 1985 and received a ring.
Somewhere along the way he hit a snag, but in 2008 he started his way back running for Jesus and he never got tired. He attended Oak Hill Baptist Church where he became affiliated with FCA. He was employed with Slay Steel for over 20 years. Mr. Greg Slay did not give up on him no matter what happened, he remained by his side.
Mr. Pete mentored and feed the kids showing that he really loved and cared for them. Just like clockwork trying to get the children’s character and conduct where it should be. Everyone was so proud of his accomplishments.
He leaves to cherish his Loving Memory his, mother, Diannie Smith of Meridian, MS; two daughters, Samantha Boykin of Meridian, MS and Veronica Mardis of Jacksonville, FL; one son Jarvis Dubose of Meridian, MS; two sisters, Charlotte Smith of Meridian, MS and Kisha Newell of Jackson, MS; three brothers Rodney (Annette Gully of Meridian, MS Charles E. Smith of Meridian, MS and Dewayne (Kathy) Smith of Meridian, MS; three aunts, Eddie J. Smith, Betty J. Smith of Meridian, MS, Lele (Samuel) Miller of Atlanta, GA; two great-aunts, Dorothy Trussell and Mary Smith of Meridian, MS, two grandson Tamarien (T.J.) Dunn of Meridian, MS and Koi Gudger of Jacksonville, FL, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
