Mrs. Henrietta Sims' Obituary
Henrietta Jean Ruffin Sims was born June 17, 1930, in Marks, MS to the late Henry Murray and Myrtis Ruffin. Rett, as she was affectionately called, later moved to Meridian, MS where her mother married Willis Ruffin. She became a member of the Savoy Community and joined New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in her youth. Henrietta was married twice. First to Hooker Lee McComb in which she was blessed with her two eldest sons Charles Lindbergh and Douglas Leon McComb. Later in life upon her second marriage to Rev. John E. Sims, together they added four more children to their union. Rett was well known for her cooking. Namely her dressing, pound cakes, and her potato salad. Many plates were fixed & "toted" off from her kitchen. In addition to cooking and caring for her family, she also worked as a CNA at Golden Sunset Rest Home and privately. Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. John Sims, her parents, Willis & Myrtis Ruffin, and children, Charles Ruffin, Douglas McComb, & Harold Sims. Henrietta leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Michael D. Sims (Flanika) and John Fitzgerald Sims; one daughter, Sanpier M. Sims all of Meridian, MS; eleven grandchildren; 22 great-grand; three great-great grand; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
