Mr. Henry Lee Bartee, Sr.'s Obituary
On Friday, October 9, 2015, at Ochsner Hospital Meadowcrest Campus for His own purposes, God gently plucked one of His followers to add to His Heavenly bouquet. This flower, Henry Lee Bartee, Sr., was born on February 16, 1949, to the late Emmit (Jim) James Bartee, Sr. and Susie Mae Bartee. He was raised in rural Clarke County in a strong and loving family. Henry's parents raised him in the knowledge of the Lord. At an early age Henry was baptized at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and started his lifelong relationship with God. Henry later became an active member of Philemon Missionary Baptist Church and Grace Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA. Henry's favorite passage in the Bible was John 14,. He graduatedfrom Shirley-Owens High School in 1967. After graduation, Henry enlisted in the United States Army. Henry served his country during the Vietnam War and earned the rank of Sergeant. In 1970, Henry was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Louise James. To this union three children were born. After returning home from honorably serving his country, Henry began his 40 year career as an auto body repairman. Henry earned his recognition as being the top auto body repairman throughout the Greater New Orleans area by working at various reputable collision centers. Henry's last place of employment was at Ray Brandt Collision Center where he retired in 2012. He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife, Mary L. Bartee of Harvey, LA; one loving son, Henry (Lori) L. Bartee, Jr. of Saskatchewan, Canada; two loving daughters, Renee L. Bartee and Regina D. Bartee of Harvey, LA; two grandchildren, Derek A. Bartee and Marc-Anthony L. Bartee; a caring mother, Susie Mae Bartee of Quitman, MS; five brothers: Emmit (Betty) Bartee, Jr. and Howard (Dorothy) Bartee of Quitman, MS; Rev. Joseph (Webster) Bartee, Sr. of Jackson, MS; Tobey (Virginia) Bartee of Gautier, MS; and Rev. Arthur (Cynthia) Bartee of Buckatunna, MS; two sisters: Julie Thompson and Dorothy Bartee of Quitman, MS; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, andfriends. He was preceded in death by his father, Emmit (Jim) James Bartee, Sr.; his sister Josephine Bartee-Osby; and his nephew Frederick E. Savone.
