Mr. Henry Roy "Sonny" Cook Sr.'s Obituary
Henry Roy Cook Sr. "Sonny", 74 died peacefully in his Meridian, MS home on Moy 2, 2023. Sonny was born on Dec 5, 1948 in Meridian, MS to the late Roy and Bessie Moe (Mortin)Cook. In his early years, he decided to follow Christ and be baptized at the Pleasant Volley Baptist Church where he served as a Jr. Deacon. Sonny attended High school at Middleton Attendance Center. He decided at 18 that he wonted to serve his country. He joined the United States Army and was a part ofthe 101st Airborne Division. While serving in the Vietnam war, he was awarded a bronze star for his heroic service. Sonny enjoyed making friends, doing routine wellness checks on the sick and shut in, and making people laugh with his wonderful sense of humor. His hobbies were traveling and shooting pool. Sonny also enjoyed spending time with his beautiful children & grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents, Roy and Bessie Cook, his sister, Velma "Pearl" Cook, his son-in-law, Donovan Allen, and two brothers-in-low, Nero Myles and Roosevelt Sharp. He leaves to cherish his memories, 7 wonderful children. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
