Mr. Herbert "Shaggy Dog" Leggett's Obituary
We are in place in this world for a limited time, and with every breath begin the race to the grave. A race everyone must run. Herbert Leggett was born on September 28, 1946 to the late Margaret Leggett Dunlap and T.J. Windham. He united with the Greater Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. Fred D. Gulley. Herbert was educated in the Meridian Public Schools District, graduating from T. J. Harris High School. Upon completion of High School, Herbert enlisted in the United States Air Force where he traveled and lived abroad. After serving his country, Herbert worked various jobs and lived all over the United States before coming back to Meridian to retire. On March 16th, Herbert was ushered from this life into eternity. He leaves to cherish his memory: Two daughters, Sonya Leggett (John) of Kenosha, WI., Morgan Mason (Ronald) of Dallas TX., Mario Gordon, Sedrick Burge (Crystal) of Atlanta, GA., Three Sisters: Lillie Evans, Gloria Leggett, and Ann Carr, all of Meridian, MS. One Brother, Gregory Leggett of Navarre Fl., Twelve Grandchildren: Sedrick II, Samuel, Spencer, Madison, Ai den, Maddox, Shatrice, Anthony, Angelo, Taylor, Darius, and Tyreese. Eleven Nieces: Gail Young (Walter), Angela Smith (Tracy), Arica Evans, Jackie Leggett, Angela Leggett, Tracie Leggett, Tillie Neely (James), Amy Leggett, Britney Carr, Amber Leggett, and Rachel Leggett. Fifteen Nephews: Keith Evans (Pam), Jerry Leggett (Kim), Kelvin Leggett, Eddie Leggett, Johnny Leggett, Rodney Leggett, Anthony Leggett, Douglas Leggett, Jeffery Leggett, Draper Leggett, Broderick Carr (Nikita), Bradley Leggett, Jordan Leggett, Thomas Leggett, and Caleb Leggett, and a host of great nephews, great nieces, cousins and friends.
