Mr. Howard Lee Stewart Sr.'s Obituary
Howard Lee Stewart Sr. was born in the year of 1935, on Easter Sunday April 21st to Frank Stewart & Essie Sims Stewart in Nellieburg, MS. He departed this life on July 22, 2018 at Jeff Anderson Hospital in Meridian, MS.
As a young tike, he attended Ladd and West End Elementary Schools, Livingston Junior High, and TJ Harris high School. During the Korean Conflict in 1953, he enlisted in the United States Army. As a soldier, he was deployed to both Germany and Korea. He ended his military career in 1957.
August 13, 1960, he was joined together in marriage to Katherine (Parker) Stewart. To provide for his family after his military career, he worked in railroad construction. he was also employed at Mississippi Malabar Iron, and retired father 32 years of services from Burlington Industries in Stonewall, MS. In the community, Howard was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous sponsoring and mentoring others in need of sobriety day or night.
Life after retirement sometimes included him supervising from a choir, and hanging out in his tool shed/man cave, and continuously building the largest “man cave” that Stonewall, MS has ever seen. Setting others straight, handling small repairs around the house, building shelves and wooden structures, watching movies (Westerns), and napping, loading up the grand & great-grand kids with sugary treats. He was a caregiver to his mother during her later years.
Preceding him in death: a caring grandmother, Suzanna W. Sims, who held a special place in his heart; his parents: Frank Stewart and Essie Stewart Donald; a brother, Bill Stewart; a sister, Susie Mae Burdell; a brother-in-law, George Burdell; a son, Billy Maurice; and two grandchildren, Franklin Markerious and Baby Girl Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Katherine Parker Stewart; seven living children: Felecia (Lamar) Lewis of Quitman, MS; Feleta Stewart of Tyler, TX; Howard (Tyheita) Stonewall, MS; Miranda (Tony) Thompson of Laurel, MS; and Yolanda (Lerone) Bouldin of Madison, MS; his siblings: Eddie (Brenda) Donald of Roswell, GA; Bettye (Thomas) Potter of Dallas, TX; Earnestein Donald of Memphis, TN; and Clarice Parnell of Meridian, MS; sisters-in-law: Martha keel and Shirley pepper of Chicago, IL; Vera Sims of New Orleans, LA; and Willie Gross of Portland, OR; brother-in-law, Thomas (Pam) Parker of Jackson, MS; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friend and his AA family.
