Mrs. I.D. Brookshire's Obituary
Mrs. I.D. Brookshire was born Idelia McNeal on July 23, 1917 in DeKalb, MS. She was born to the late Hemp McNeal and late Maggie Jones McNeal. She was the third child out of four siblings. She went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2014 at 1:30 A.M. at Meridian Community Living Center. She was preceded in death by her husband; Alex Brookshire Sr; two sons, James H. Brookshire and Leslie Brookshire; two sisters, Luvenia Naylor and Julia McNeal and two brothers; Robert Naylor and James Blanks. She gave her life to Christ at an early age. She joined St. Elizabeth Methodist Church in the early 1940’s where she was an active member faithfully for fifty plus years as a member on the Usher Board and involved in other duties in the church. She was joined in holy matrimony to Alex Brookshire Sr. At an early age. She worked at Lamar Hotel in Downtown Meridian and then worked at Troy Laundry where she finally stopped working in 1979 and became a stay at home wife. She leaves to cherish many memories; Alex (Candra) Brookshire Jr. of Fort Wayne, IN, Eugene Brookshire of Meridian, MS, 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchidren, a host of cousins and great-cousins, and also a special friend, Mrs. Millie Austin.
