Mrs. Irene Allen Jones' Obituary
Irene "Sweetie" Allen was born in Meridian, MS April 24,1963, to the late William and Ivory Nunn Allen. Irene accepted Christ at an early age at New Era Baptist Church, under Rev. J.W. Anderson, where she served as Sunday school teacher, usher and member of the young adult and senior choir. Irene later joined Freedom Rock where she served faithfully until her health began to fail. She was educated in Meridian Public School district. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1981. Irene studied data processing at Meridian Community College and transferred to University of Southern Mississippi, receiving her bachelor degree in Computer Science in 1987. Irene departed her life at 6:47 a.m. after spending 7 days at Anderson Regional Hospital. She always would tell you what numbers meant so 7 means complete. She was proceeded in death 1 grandchild Lazyriah Ivory Patrice Allen, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Those left to cherish precious memories and to honor her life: Her one and only devoted daughter Shelia Allen (Charles) of Meridian,Ms. 4 Grandchildren: Jakyriah Allen, Jakayla Allen, Jaylen Rush and Jayvion Allen, all of Meridian,Ms. Also leaving not to mourn but to cherish and rejoice in pleasant memories 6 sisters: Annie Gordon(Riddell)-Sacramento, California; Redena Allen-Mariefta,Georgia; Loretta Allen Bennett(Eddie) and Patricia Allen(Raymond), both of Meridian, Ms. Betty Johnson Davis-Atlanta,Georgia; and Willie Nell Johnson-Fort Walton Beach, Florida Three Brothers:Alton Allen,Dennis Ray Allen, Linverg Allen (Melodie), all of Meridian,Ms A special and loving Aunt Edna Griffin, Aunt Brenda Phillips and Uncle Quiton Nunn(Callie) all of Preston,Ms; A host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, always ministering, and checking on them frequently, along with extended family and friends.
