Mrs. Irma Jean Leflore Reese's Obituary
Irma was born in Meridian, Mississippi to Will and Annie Matt Leflore on November 23, 1933, the seventh among nine siblings. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1953. She heard the Lord knock at the door of her heart and entered the convent at Glen Cove, New York at age 20. After a short time, and a difficult but worthwhile decision, she returned home. She married the love of her life, Tommy Frank Reese, her favorite dance partner, in 1958. Several years later, they moved their young family to Queens, New York in the early1960's. Upon retirement Irma and Frank relocated to Meridian to be closer to their family. Irma was a wonderful, devoted and loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was also a beloved grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was proud of her family and cherished family gatherings at holidays and all through the year. She spent hours preparing her home and her remarkable cooking for friends and family. Irma was deeply compassionate and genuinely interested in the lives of others. She made friends easily and maintained contact with many. People were drawn to her love and kindness. She was joyful and an avid bingo player. She was known to be feisty with a great sense of humor. Always close to God, she was a devout Christian and very active member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church. Irma is now reunited with her husband, Frank and her son, Floyd Anthony Reese (Tony). She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings. She died at her home Thursday, October 18, 2018. She was 84 years old. Celebrating her beautiful life are her five children Teresa, Harold, Michael, Darian and Trichele (Nikki); two grandchildren, Kiesha and Reese; one great grand daughter, Asaiah; a sister-in-law, Daisy Reese; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to list here, but are loved and not forgotten.
