Mr. J.L. "Jake" Hayes, Sr.'s Obituary
J. L. "Jake" Hayes, Sr. was born September 8, 1950 to the late Sadie Mae and Joe Hayes. He confessed Christ at an early age, attending Pleasant Valley and Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church of Meridian, MS. As a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant, Mr. Jake, as he was known, was faithful in his doings, until his health failed. He was a very avid Auto Mechanic always willing to share his craft with everyone. He married Mrs. Shirley Fox of Philadelphia, MS and to this union five children were born. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Hayes, his mother Sadie Mae Hayes, daughter Shonda Hayes, brother Leo Hayes, and a nephew Natonio Doss. J. L. "Jake" Hayes leaves to cherish his memories are his children Rev. James (Cassandra) Patton of Meridian, MS, Karry (Shanetta) Hayes of Pascagoula, MS, J.l. (Olivia) Hayes of Meridian, MS, Quanelious Hayes of Meridian, MS, Undreal (Kristie) Hayes of Philadelphia, MS, and Murphy Hayes of Meridian, MS, one brother Jimmy Hayes, three sisters Doris Hayes, JoAnne Hayes, and Mary Conner all of Meridian, MS, and Ms. Shirley Fox of Philadelphia, MS. Ten grandchildren Kerry Hayes, NaKiya Hayes, Quanelious Hayes, DeAvioun Collins, Jakia Welch, Markelison Rush, Hayden Rush, Bless Hayes, and a special grandson DeJuan Fairley, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
