Mrs. Jacqueline Marie Crowell Irby's Obituary
Jacqueline ”Jackie" Marie Crowell Irby was born January 17, 1950 in Meridian, MS. She died Sunday April 27, in the home of her beloved sister Amanda, "Mandy" as Jackie called her. She loved herself some Mandy. She was the daughter of Gladys Easley Clark. She was adopted and reared by Elgene and Pearlie Crowell. She attended Triplett Elementary School, Stevenson Vocational High School, Middleton Attendance Center, and Ellisville State School. She married Chester Irby in January, 1983. She was a loving dutiful wife. She was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful and dedicated member. She was an active member of the choir and served as the choir's music librarian. Gospel music was her love. If you needed a CD, tape. Of sheet music by any gospel artist, Jackie likely had it ... if she liked the song, she wanted the choir to sing it. She was knowu in her church among family and friends for her love of children, especially Kayla and KiMiyah whom she loved like they were her own daughters; anything they wanted her to do, she would do. She was fond of Kelvin, Reginald, and Kimberly and had been a surrogate mother to them when Mandy had to go into town for an AKA sorority meeting, to go grocery shopping, or on an out of town trip. Jackie's passion was helping others. She would drive members to town to shop, to pay bills, and to doctor's appointments; she would also pick up on Sunday mornings for church. Sometime she would drop in to check on a person who was sick and/or shut-in. Jackie was loyal to family and friends; she was a kind, sweet, gentle spirit who never met a stranger. Her favorite past time was watching game shows, especially The Price is Right. She loved catalog shopping--buying the latest dress suit, the latest household gadget, the latest gardening tool, and/or the latest fishing equipment. She loved tailgating with the Meridian Alumni Chapters of Alcorn State University, though she didn't care much for football itself. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Chester Irby, Meridian, MS, a sister, Amanda Carter (Roosevelt) Meridian, MS; two nephews: Minister Kelvin Andrell Carter, St. Louis, MO; Reginald Tyrell Carter (Daffary) Memphis, TN; niece, Kimberly Rochelle Carter and her children; Kayla, KiMiyah, Timothy, Karter, Kash, Kade, and Kingston, aunts, Earnestine Easley, Meridian, MS; Julia Nell Williamson and Margorie Walker, Joliet, IL; two brother-in laws: Chris Irby. Meridian, MS and Nehemiah Irby (Laura) Meridian, MS; step-children, Ricky M. Irby, Meridian, MS; Gregory Irby, Debbie Ann Irby, and Donald Wayne Irby all of Sharon, PA; and host of cousins, family and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Easley Clark, adopted parents, Elgent and Pearlie Crowell, grandparents, Abel and Amanda Easley , and William and Callie Crowell.
