Mr. James "Buddy" Brooks' Obituary
James Brooks, affectionately known as “Buddy” was the last of five children born to Justus and Armonia Pruitt Brooks on April 13, 1946.
His arrival was a pleasant surprise being the only boy of five siblings. Being the only boy in the family, he was loved and adored by everyone. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined El Bethel Baptist Church under the Pastorship of Rev. Timothy Graham. He had many friends that adored him and he was always the life of the party. He attended the Meridian Public Schools. His first six years was at Weschler Elementary School. he later attended Carver Jr. High, T.J. Harris High School and N.H. Pilate High School, Newton, MS.
He made his residence in New York for 20 years and worked at Creedmoor State Hospital, Queens Village, NY. He received his Associate Degree in General Studies from Cayuga Community College, Auburn, NY. He made his transition quietly on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the Queen City Nursing Home in Meridian, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Armonia and Justus Brooks and one son, Japril Thomas.
James leaves to mourn his passing, two sons, Anthony Brooks, queens, NY; and Isaac M, Chaplin, Windsor, NC; one daughter, April Hardy, Hollis, NY; three grandchildren; four sisters, Marjorie Brooks Price, charlotte, NC; Dr. Vera B Hayden-Davis (John), Clara B. Parks and Annie Jean Collins (Harold), all of Meridian, MS, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and a lifelong friend, Leon Hood, Meridian, MS.
