Mr. James Kevin "Big" Burage's Obituary
James Kelvin "Big" Burage was carried away on the wings of angels on October 5, 2016. James was born August 11, 1965 in Meridian, Mississippi, the eldest son to the union of the late Milton and Annie Louise Burage. At a young age he accepted Christ as his Lord and savior while attending El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He lived most of his life in Meridian, Mississippi, attended public schools there, and graduated from Meridian High School in 1983. His passion in life was working on cars and he was known on "Redline" in Meridian as a shade tree mechanic who tinkered with cars every chance he could. He worked professionally at Kimber Roofing and Jackson Furniture, both in Meridian, Mississippi. In 1996,James moved to Louisville, Kentucky to be closer lo his siblings where he continued to reside. He enjoyed singing anytime, anywhere. One of his favorite songs was "A Change is Gonna Come" by Sam Cooke. He also enjoyed cooking and family get togethers where there would be a lot of laughing, dancing, reminiscing, and most of all love of family. Everyone knew James would be the first to crack a smile and laugh, but when it was needed he was blunt and straight forward, but always showed compassion to others, especially his family. He was preceeded in death by his father, Milton Burage and his mother, Annie Louise Burage. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his daughter Jamie Davis; five sisters: Mildred Hearn of Meridian, Mississippi, Marilyn (Earl) Holder of Atlanta, Gerogia; Angela Burage;, Tausha Burage, and Raquel Burage of Louisville, Kentucky; two brothers: Michael Burage, Patrick (Deneen) Burage of Louisville, Kentucky; two grandsons: Jaylen and Carter of Meridian, Mississippi; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves to cherish his memory, a special friend, Tonya Brooks and her son Nayrell Norton.
