James Wayne Davis was born January 7, 1954 to the late Lula Mae Williams and Cleveland Burrage in Meridian, Mississippi. James joined the United States Army at an early age. He married Mattie Jane CoxDavis, the love of his life. He departed his life on September 9, 2019. He leaves to cherish his memories: his lovely wife, Mattie Jane Cox-Davis; two daughters, Kimberly (Nash) Williamson, F1orida, and Sabrina Kennedy, Birmingham, Alabama, Tina Pringle; three sons, Sterling Evans, Anthony King, Meridian, Mississippi and Rashaud Blakeney, Meridian, Mississippi; nine sisters, Sandra (Fred) Cross, Jackie Williams, Brenda Anderson, Betty Davis, Meridian, Mississippi, Linda Williams, F1orida, Peggy Westerfield, Wilahmena (Raymond) Ruffins, Faye Cistrunk, and Fannie Burrage, Meridian, Mississippi; four brothers, Leslie Davis, Atlanta, Georgia, Johnny Davis, California, James Burrage, and Timothy Burrage; five sisters-in-law, Janice Cox, Gloria Brown, Priscilla Brown, Vicky Brown, and Barbara Brown, Meridian, Mississippi; three brothers-in-law, David (Emma) Brown, Louin, Mississippi, Edward Brown, and Quentin Smith, Meridian, Mississippi; mother-in-law, Ethel Mae Brown, Meridian, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Eric Herlong; two sisters, Evelyn McIntyre and Arletha Hooker; three brothers, Earl Davis, Larry Burrage, and Cleveland Burrage; one brother-in-law, Roosevelt Brown, and a host of and grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
